Telling the stories of the Holocaust
What is Shadows of Shoah?
The Shoah (Hebrew: השואה, HaShoah, “the catastrophe”) or Holocaust was the Nazi perpetrated genocide of six million Jews from 1941 - 1945.
Shadows of Shoah is a unique multidisciplinary artistic work communicating the reality of the Holocaust to a new generation. Presenting excerpts from the stories of Holocaust survivors from around the world, the Shadows of Shoah exhibition responds to antisemitism and Holocaust distortion and denial.
Since its launch in 2013 by New Zealand Prime Minister John Key, our acclaimed exhibition has been staged in museums, galleries, and public spaces throughout New Zealand. The River of Tears exhibition was launched in 2016 and debuted in Queensland, Australia.
